About the Studio

The Old Location
The Old Location

Superchango Studio opened its doors in the summer of 2003 under the ownership and vision of Juan Cabrera; the name inspired by his two sons who he refers to fondly as monkeys.

He dreamed of opening a different kind of studio in an area that was not already overpopulated with studios. Something that offered art, creativity, cleanliness and most of all: a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Juan chose The Woodlands, Texas, an economically-growing bedroom suburb at the time, but has grown into a large city itself.

And Superchango has grown with it. Over the last eleven years it has earned its reputation as one of the best tattoo shops in the Houston area through staying true to its roots: award-winning artistry, quality work at fair prices, and a friendly, inviting attitude that isn’t found at many other shops.

As of October 2014, the roster includes four very diverse and talented artists that offer work in traditional, new school, old school, Japanese, portraits and any custom design that can be imagined. Guest artists from similarly-respected shops also appear frequently, such as: Mike Cole, Cleen Rock One, Marcus “Keik” Hernandez and Eneko. Check the front page for announcements of any guest spots and some samples of their work.

shopmapWhile some may know the old location, Superchango Tattoo Studio moved to its permanent headquarters on the west side of I-45 just north of Rayford/Sawdust road in 2012.  Click on the LOCATION & HOURS menu above for detailed directions. The new shop offers more room for artists to work (which means less lines), more art choices, and lots of new things to look at. Juan travels all over collecting and learning from some of the top names in the business such as Cory Kruger of Boston Mass, Deano Cook of Georgia, Grime of San Francisco California, Robert Hernandez of Madrid Spain and many, many more. He even finds time to make it to a convention or two during the year.

Superchango Studio. Funny name, serious tattoo.
